Blue Tier Trail Refresh

The Blue Tier Trail is one of the iconic trails in the Derby network. Spanning 20+ kms from the top of the Blue Tier down to Weldborough Pub, it is an intermediate trail that you just want to keep riding again, and again, and again!

However, when trails are as popular as those at Derby, every now and then they need some serious tender loving care. Fortunately, this is exactly what has been given to the Blue Tier Trail at the end of the 2023/2024 season. What does this mean for our next season? The Blue Tier is pretty much a brand-new trail!

We rode it when it had just been completed, and in our opinion, it is riding the best we have ever experienced it! Many little rocks or roots have been completely removed, berms have been rebuilt and regroomed, and some of the trail has been completely re-routed to provide an even better riding experience. 

In short, it’s like riding a natural roller coaster! You’ll start in a moonscape-like alpine environment at the top of the Blue Tier, before heading into some of the deepest and greenest rainforest. Riding on top of a carpet of Mrytle tree leaves, which are covering the deep, rich and grippy soil, this is one of those trails you’ll want to ride to feel the adrenaline, but also stop to take in the surrounding environment.

If you join us on a 3- or 4-Day Experience we include the Blue Tier Trail as the final day of riding with us. It is a spectacular way to finish your time with us… You’ll no doubt end on a natural high, smiling ear to ear!
